Monday, October 9, 2023 –Plans to oust Malala from the United Democratic Alliance UDA Party office are in top gear with a section of Western Region leaders having launched an official complain to the party’s top disputes organ.
Latest move has been announced by Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale who has petitioned the UDA Party Disputes Resolutions Committee DRC to act with speed and remove Malala from office.
The petition sees UDA named as an interested party with lawmakers now accusing the former Kakamega Senator Mr. Malala of running down the party for selfish interest.
They have accused the politician of usurping powers vested in him as well as taking advantage of his position in the party to benefit himself and his cronies.
He is also accused of usurping powers and duties of the National Elections Board NEB which is the only legal party organ to arrange and conduct an election.
“The Petitioners will suffer irreparable personal loss and prejudice if the Honorable Committee does not intervene.
“The Respondent overstepped his mandate and usurped the roles and mandate of the National Elections Board,” read the statement as filed by Khalwale.
In the letter, Boni Khalwale accused their secretary general of already hiring regional and county managers to conduct the forthcoming grassroots elections which are scheduled to take place on December 9, 2023.
That this decision was expressly made by Malala before through consultations with other key party organs including the National Executive Committee NEC and the National Elections Board NEB.
“By overstepping his mandate and usurping the mandate of the National Elections Board, it is quite clear that the respondent is bent on compromising the process by appointing his cronies and friends as election management officials,” added Khalwale.
Mr. Khalwale and Walter Mkinginyi Trenk now want the Committee to bar Malala from remaining in the secretary general party position because of the gross misconduct.
Equally, a section of UDA Party MPs from Bungoma County has also expressed their dissatisfaction with the way Malala was running their party.
For Instance, Kimilili Member of Parliament MP Didmus Barasa has said Malala will nolonger be accorded the respect of secretary general even if he decides to remain in the party.
He claimed that Mr. Malala is an ODM Party mole who should nolonger continue holding such an important office in the ruling party.
