Sunday, December 3, 2023 –Leaders from all political divide have continued condoling with the family of Senator Edwin Sifuna following death of his father, Lawrence Sifuna.
Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party leadership was the first to mourn with the family saying the former Bumula MP was a political icon who participated in the long fight for multiparty democracy in the country.

“We commiserate with the family of our SG, friends and relatives following the loss of the Hon. Lawrence Sifuna. Hon. Sifuna was a Life Member of the ODM party,” read full statement from the ODM Party today.
DAP-Kenya Party leader Eugene Wamalwa joining the mourning list, also described the late as an icon in both Luhya and national politics.
“Deeply saddened by the passing of Hon Lawrence Sifuna,former Bumula MP &Political icon who with his daredevil bearded sisters fearlessly fought the ignoble Nyayo era regime dictatorship to restore Multi-Party Democracy in Kenya. My condolences,” Wamalwa wrote in a statement seen by this writer.
Kimilili Member of Parliament MP Didmus Barasa, in his condolences, said the diseased was a beloved leader in the expansive Bungoma region.
“On behalf of the people of Kimilili and my own family, I send my deepest condolences to the family of the late Lawrence Sifuna, former MP for Kanduyi Constituency. He was a beloved leader who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace,” Barasa mourned.

The late Sifuna was a life member of the Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party and he is a former MP for Bungoma South Constituency (presently Kanduyi) and also Bumula.
