Tuesday, November 14, 2023 –Interior Cabinet Secretary CS Kithure Kindiki has overturned new Identification ID acquirement fee announced recently.
In a new directive from the Ministry of Interior today, Tuesday November 14, Kindiki, through a Gazzette Notice dated Tuesday, said replacement of IDs will now cost sh 1,000 from the previous sh 2,000 that was gazetted two weeks ago.
Kenyans are now allowed not to pay anything whenever they are doing an identification ID application.
This is in contrast with the previous sh 1,000 during application for IDs.
“The intended revised charges, fees and levies are informed by the need for Kenya’s self-reliance in financing the National Budget, to wean the Country from unsustainable debt that poses grave threats to our sovereignty and the dignity of future generations.
Prof. Kindiki confessed that the new rates have been reached at after considering public views both on social media and interaction.
“The new intended charges, fees and levies have been adjusted to accommodate views of the public already received following the publication of the revoked Gazette Notices,” read the notice in part.
