Sunday, May 12, 2024 –Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula have ganged up against Trans Nzoia Governor Goerge Natembeya over his latest attacks on the Luhya leadership.
Speaking during the funeral service of Mama Femina Khayisio, mother of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Renson Mulele Ingonga, in Makunga, Mumias East Constituency, Kakamega County, on Saturday May 12, Mudavadi expressed fear that the route Natembeya was taking would lower the dignity and moral standing of their community on the national table.

He added that, as of now, the national leadership has two key leaders – himself and Hon Wetang’ula – who should be respected to give way for the community. He argued that the attacks being leveled at them will not change the fact that they are the Luhya kingpins as of today.
“In the village you continue attacking Musalia and Wetang’ula and at the highest level the leaders have shown magnanimity and are moving ahead.
“First of all, I will never be a governor and never be a Member of Parliament. I am now a public officer and, later, I will tell you way froward.
“Use your time to develop your area not to talk about Musalia and Wetang’ula because this will not see you reelected in 2027,” stated Mudavadi.
The PCS urged leaders to show maturity in various positions they are appointed and elected and that this will help build the name of the Luhya nation where peace is known to thrive.
On his behalf, Speaker Wetang’ula asked politicians to emulate President William Ruto and Raila Odinga’s gesture of working together even when they differed on the poll.
“The political maturity exhibited by politicians from various party affiliations was a clear sign of leaders from Mulembe nation moving away from unhealthy political distinction where newcomers in politics turned funerals into forums to hurl insults at their seniors,” Wetang’ula said in a statement on X.
Others present in the burial were Cabinet Secretaries Moses Kuria, Aisha Jumwa, Governor Fernandes Barasa, Johnson Sakaja, Paul Otwoma of Busia among several other leaders.
