Tuesday, February 20, 2024 –Opposition leader Raila Amolo Odinga has today visited his former school in Germany.
The opposition leader shared both photos and videos from the institution in Germany saying he was happy to bring back the past academic memories.
In another photo he also shared, Mr. Odinga was seen having a light moment with the current students while also posing with another group.
“Visiting the Herder Institute, my alma mater in Leipzig, Germany, brought back memories of my high school days. From the familiar corridors to returning to my previous house on Lumumba Street and meeting with today’s students.
“Grateful for the journey and the enduring community at Herder,” stated Mr. Odinga.
Raila is preparing his academic journey following a resolve to race for the lucrative African Union AU chairman position which he has been endorsed for.
He made the announcement in the company of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo in a press briefing held at his Karen Nairobi home, days ago.
While regional and continental support will, definitely, go a long way in helping him achieve his Africa leadership objectives, Raila also must meet certain requirements set by the AU should he formally place his bid. This includes; a Master’s Degree, relevant experience, fluency in at least one AU language, and proof of transformational leadership.
When he wins to succeed the current chairman, Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, he will run the office for four years and could be renewed for another four years.
