Thursday, June 22, 2023 –Senators had a chance to marvel at Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol’s office chair that allegedly cost taxpayers a whopping sh 1.12 million.
The testing of the said wooden chair took place during his impeachment hearing at the Senate on Thursday June 22.
The controversial sh1.1 million chair was presented before Senate committee during impeachment hearings against DG William Oduol.
The chair makes part of the sh.18M office renovation impeachment grounds that Governor James Orengo has submitted to the Senate through his County Assembly.
“Siaya People, come see your 1.1 million shilling chair. Awuoro,” former KTN Tv news anchor Linda Ogutu commented on the viral chair.
Senators used part of their Thursday session to test and feel comfort of the alleged sh 1.1M Orthopedic Seat by Siaya County deputy governor.
But the besieged Siaya DG has denied playing a role in the procurement of the multimillion chair for his use in his office.
Oduol, in a twist, wants the Senate or other authorities to establish how the county spent the huge cash on the said chair.
“I’m tongue-tied and shocked that we spent sh 1 million on such a standard chair,” he said.
While insisting that he did not coerce county officers to procure the chair, Oduol shifted the blame to the county director of procurement and accounting officer for its procurement.
