unday, April 18, 2021 -Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has asked Deputy President William Ruto to fulfill one condition and he will cross to Tangatanga.
Despite having been in support of the Handshake for sometime now, Governor Mutua has hinted at joining Ruto ahead of the 2022 contest with an aim of having a coalition pact.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader is ready to dump Raila Odinga for William Ruto where he thinks he has higher chances of being heard and offered better opportunities.
Mutua, in that regard, has given Ruto one major condition he ought to fulfill and they will be good to work together. He has asked the DP to make clear to him how he is going to stop being a corrupt leader if elected in power.
Mutua, in his veiled statement, referred to a string of graft dealings Ruto has been linked to in the past and some which have not been decided in court; among them the Weston Hotel land saga which was declared to belong to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority KCAA.
The last time the Machakos Governor was in a fierce exchange with the DP was when he claimed that the second in command had greeted him with a firm grip that almost cost him his palm. In 2019 he also accused Ruto’s men among them Kipchumba Murkomen and Aden Duale of threatening him after he had asked their master to clear his integrity if he wants to lead the country.
“Should anything unusual happen to me or members of my family or my associates, the three should be held accountable,” said Mutua, as he asked government to beef up his security.
His plan to join Ruto now, some sections claim, is being informed by circumstances surrounding the Ukambani Region as far as political dynamics are concerned.
With Johnston Muthama now reportedly gravitating back towards Kalonzo Musyoka, Mutua could be planning to revenge through his new association with Ruto.
The Machakos Governor is among the politician cropping up in Ukambani area with a threat to dislodge Kalonzo from kingship.
