Anxiety over BBI report as Haji is rushed to hospital for an emergency surgery

Building Bridges Initiative BBI report may not be unveiled anytime soon following reports that Chairman Mr. Yusuf Haji is hospitalized.

Reports reaching Homenews.co.ke news desk now indicates that the Garissa lawmaker who has been chairing the whole process fell sick before he was rushed to hospital a few days ago.

Haji, according to Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, was admitted at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi where he underwent a surgery last Tuesday September 29th.

The Senator was hurriedly flown from Garissa County to the city for a six hour long emergency operation that ended up successful.

Haji who doubles up as the Senate Security and Foreign Relations Committee Chairman is also the steering Chairman of the Building Bridges Initiative BBI whose report is around the corner and which is supposed to be received by both President Uhuru Kenyatta and Hon Raila Odinga, the opposition leader.

“BBI report is around the corner,” Raila Odinga was recently head announcing to his supporters with an assurance that a referendum was inevitable.

Speaking on the illness of Mr. Haji, Speaker Ken Lusaka asked the whole country to continue praying for the senator as he continues to recuperate.

“Let us pray for his quick recovery,” Lusaka urged.

Though not so clear what happened to Mr. Haji, scanty information indicated that he fell down at his home when he slipped on the floor hence creating a dislocation of one hip.

Haji who is termed as the veteran lawmaker in the country and who also served as Defence Minister in Kibaki’s regime was expected to present the final report end of this month.
