Wednesday, November 1, 2023 –Human Rights Activist Boniface Mwangi has today been sentenced to two months by a Nairobi Court.
Mwangi was ruled guilty by a Magistrate court sitting in Nairobi today Wednesday November 1 on charges of court contempt.
Making the confirmation after the court session, Mr. Mwangi stated that he had been found guilty over his case with the people who he believes bombed his mansion in Machakos.
He is accused of making social media posts over his house which was destroyed sometimes back in what he described as a political witch hunt by a senior local politician.
“I have been found guilty of contempt of court. Sentenced to two months in prison or pay a fine of sh 300,000. The gag order was extended to January 2024. l can no longer post who bombed our home. Water is wet, the pope is Catholic, and everyone knows who bombed our home,” he stated.
Mwangi also sought to know why the authorities have never attempted to look into his claims that former Machakos County Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua played major part in the planning that saw his mansion bombed and destroyed.
“Here wondering why have never arrested Dr. Alfred Mutua for bombing my house. I provided DCI with evidence, names of the suspects, phone numbers etc. l shall never stop saying that. No court order will ever stop me from saying that,” stated Mwangi.
His Lawyers led by Ms Martha Karua, who accompanied him in court today Wednesday, asked the DCI and the relevant authorities to investigate the claims made by their client because they believe have some weight which can lead to arrests.
Dr. Alfred Mutua has since moved to William Ruto’s government as Cabinet Secretary Tourism after serving for one year in the Foreign Affairs docket which has since been taken over by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
