Monday, May 13, 2024 -Grocery business in Nairobi is the most profitable as every household must have a meal every day.
Starting a grocery is the most viable, especially, for those businessmen who want to have instant clients and quicker profits.
A wife to Joseph by the name Josephine Aketch, 25, was a jobless lady for a long time when they came to Nairobi in the year 2021. She didn’t have anything to do despite having a First Class Honours in chemical engineering.
Life was not so soft for her before her man advised her of starting a grocery shop at the gate entrance of their plot located at Dagoretti Corner.
At first, she was hesitant to enter the business but, with time, she agreed to give it a try. Her man gave her sh 4,000 to start the business.
She went to Muthurwa to buy the first stock of tomatoes and onions plus a few fruits – mangoes, water melons and oranges.
On the first day, she was surprised to make sales of sh 3,200 with a profit of sh 1,200. She couldn’t believe and when she went for the first restocking, the profit she made on that second day was sh 2,000. Unbelievable again!
This was a reality that she couldn’t believe and that is when she settled on doing grocery business, todate.
She is so grateful to her supportive husband for starting the idea that is making her thousands of profits in revenues.
She has since resolved never to apply for office jobs because this one is already paying her bills and now that she can take loans and also join chamas like her fellow women.
She recently said employment is not her cup of tea but encouraged those who want to get employed to not turn down appointments before they are ready for business.
