According to the Constitution, the bill must be approved by atleast 24 county assemblies so that it can then be moved to the next stage upwards.

In his own words, Mr. Dennis Weweru who is the co-chairman at the BBI Secretariat informed that there plan is to have the Referendum conducted as soon as possible.

“With the clearance from IEBC we now have a short time to have the BBI Referendum Bill tabled in all the 47 county assemblies in order to have a referendum conducted as soon as possible,” Mr Waweru said.

There is high a possibility that the process could face some resistance from some quarters if the current political undertones are anything to judge this by.

Tangatanga wing led by DP William Ruto could be preparing to shoot down the Bill citing lack of consultation.
