Thursday, May 27, 2021 -A Nairobi road has been renamed after Central Organisation of Trade Union COTU boss Francis Atwoli.
According to Dundapost.com, the former Dok Dik Road located in Kileleshwa near Kenya High School will from today be called Francis Atwoli Road.
Making his comments during the Thursday May 27 exercise that was presided over by Acting Governor Anne Kananu, Atwoli said this was a great honour not only for himself but also for workers of this country.
“I want to thank the leadership of Nairobi County, under @annkananu_ , for this great honour and recognition of services to the Government of the day, the community and Worker’s at large,” Atwoli said.
The vocal Trade unionist added that he will continue supporting the Nairobi County Assembly and the city’s acting governor so that they can realize and achieve that what they have planned in their manifesto.
Last month, Nairobi County government renamed the popular Accra Road located in the CBD to Kenneth Matiba Road. The late Matiba was the former Ford Asili Party leader.
According to the law, for a any public facility to be renamed, legislators must first pass a motion on the floor of the House what should then be ratified by the Governor.
