Sunday, November 26, 2023 –Cabinet Secretary CS Kipchumba Murkomen was on Sunday afternoon booed while trying to address Baringo locals in a sports event.
The Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary had attended the Kabarnet Showground function where the OKM Foundation Peace Tournament was taking place.
In the process of his address to the locals, chants of ‘go away’ rented the air as some locals also shouted ‘Ruto must go’ songs.
The disappointed youths and locals were seen waving their hands off as a sign of dissatisfaction with the cabinet secretary who was in the middle of his speech.
“Go Go Go away. Ruto must go. Ruto must go,” song rented the air.
The tournament ended prematurely as Murkomen would shortly confirm his presence saying he joined the finals which attracted hundreds of locals.
“Today, I joined Governor Benjamin Cheboi to watch the Baringo County Governor’s Super Cup Finals for Ladies at the Kabarnet Showground in which Kabarnet Starlets won,” he wrote.
He added that the sports event was aimed at promoting a peaceful coexistence and empower young people through support in prizes.
The tournament is a forum to talk together and heal from the hostilities caused by banditry, which has ravaged the region for too long.
