Sunday, November 5, 2023 -Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has responded to Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria’s claims that fake kingpins had flooded the country.
Speaking at St James ACK Kiambu today Sunday November 5, DP Gachagua who appeared to have been angered by comments from certain leaders from his backyard, noted that his plate is full and does not have time to join those jostling for the Mt. Kenya kingship.
He added that his work is well-defined in the Kenyan Constitution and that assuming another extra-position is not his plan any time soon.
“I have my job both given in the Constitution and by my boss William Ruto.
“My office is also in the Constitution and its constitutional based in Harambee House and in Karen,” he added.
Speaking in the same venue, Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah also waded into the Mt. Kenya supremacy war saying it is time leaders from the area speak with one voice.
“Ego, chest-thumping and big man syndrome cannot and will not help Kiambu County. It is time leaders drop brinkmanship, fold their sleeves, and get down to the real work that is beneficial to the people,” he remarked.
Two days ago, Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria took a subtle swipe at the DP for claiming to be the Kingpin Mt. Kenya Region.
In his coded message on Platform X, CS Kuria quipped that now that King Charles III and wife Camilla had left the country back home, masquerading Kenyan kingpins can now go on with their activities.
This was taken by a wide section of Kenyans and pundits to be a jibe directed at DP Rigathi Gachagua.
Ruto had also spoken on the matter during King Charles III visit in the Statehouse, Nairobi.
The head of State firmly stated that local kings and ‘kingpinship’ do not amount to so much in Kenya despite the escalation of the topic around the country.
