His dirty past is now back to haunt him. Former Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi has reacted on Governor Mike Sonko’s Thursday removal.
Commenting just a day after the flamboyant governor was impeached by Members of County Assembly, Elachi who resigned a few months ago citing frustrations, observed that this was God punishing the errant Sonko for frustrating so many innocent souls.
Speaking to journalists in Nairobi, Elachi who did not want to talk much just said the embattled Sonko had created unnecessary enemies and it was payback time.
“He asked the Jubilee Party leadership to tell President Uhuru Kenyatta that once Elachi was let go, things would be okay in Nairobi. He did not care what my kids would eat. But I gave up for the sake of Nairobi.
“To the governor, turn back to God and ask for forgiveness. There are things that you do and probably those around you do not tell. You should remember that there are many people who have shed tears because of you maybe that’s why all this is happening,” Elachi stated.
She also took the opportunity to caution Kenyans from being turned into slaves of corrupt leaders saying most of them(leaders) accused of graft are usually bailed out by Kenyans who don’t care about integrity.
She added that corrupt leadership had derived this nation a lot of good things including development and which must be condemned with the strongest terms possible.
“Sometimes governors are taken to court for being corrupt but they are bailed out by Kenyans who also file other cases as well. It is important to question the sources of wealth for some of the governors,” Elachi stated.
