Monday, February 13, 2023 –Deputy President Rugathi Gachagua faced-off with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya during a public event held in Nakuru last Sunday.
In a viral video clip doing rounds on main social media platforms, Gachagua can be seen not happy with the advice Natembeya had just delivered to the president about the state of the poor citizens in the country.
Natembeya had just told President William Ruto about red-carpet lifestyle where some powerful men in government would work smart to shield the truth from reaching the head of State.
“Mr. President be worried about this red carpet. These men will prepare you a red carpet, receive and escort you back to your car when, on the other side, wananchi are suffering and dying,” the governor advised.
Governor Natembeya also told Ruto in the eye that the insecurity levels being witnessed in North Rift Region was the work of powerful men in government.
“On the matter about security, I was the Rift Valley Regional Commissioner RRC and I fought the issue a lot. There are things you will never be told, President.
“This is why I resigned from being RC in Rift Valley. You sit in a meeting with the same people who coordinate killings and banditry in the area. When security teams are sent from Nairobi, they bomb the opposite side because they have been tipped about our meetings,” Natembeya recalled adding that most police officers who are send to deal with armed bandits are not compensated well.
“The salary an officer in Kapedo gets is the same an officer standing here in Ngata on traffic is getting. There is no incentive whatever,” Natembeya indicated.
This saw DP Gachagua take him-on by reminding Natembeya that President Ruto is a peoples’ man who will never be told what to do with the people.
“Bwana Natembeya you don’t have to worry about Ruto. Nobody can come between this president and the wananchi.
“This president has high-level network than all of us combined,” he responded.
The two were addressing congregants in Nakuru during the Interdenominational Church Service held at the Nakuru Athletic Club Grounds on Sunday February 12.
