Monday, January 4th, 2021 -BBI views by Senate Majority Chief Whip Irungu Kang’ata have been dismissed by a section of Governors from Mt. Kenya.
Led by Nyandarua County boss Francis Kimemia, they argued that what Kang’ata had said about the Building Bridges Initiative was not true and that those were his personal views.
Kang’ata on Sunday January 4th addressed a long letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta claiming that the ground was too hostile for the Building Bridges Initiative BBI Report and especially in Central Region where the president comes from.
He talked of having conducted a personal research and gathered from the ground negative results on BBI which he said was being forced to the people who seem not to like the exercise as per now.
But today Monday January 4th, the governors led by Mr. Kimemia faulted the senator whom they reduced to a man who is gasping for oxygen by making pedestrian proclamations that are way above him.
“Such breach of protocol is unacceptable. It raises questions why a senior member of the government leadership in parliament would choose this cheap populist method to address this issue to HE the President whose office is just a few steps away from parliament,” the statement reads in part.
According to them, Kanag’ata was too incompetent to run the Chief Whip position in the Senate hence his incessant cries whenever he is tasked with serious matters.
Kahawa Tungu named Governors Kiraitu Murungi (Meru), Lee Kinyanjui (Nakuru), Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga) and James Nyoro of Kiambu as among those who signed the press report.
Others are Martin Wambora (Embu), Ndiritu Muriithi (Laikipia), Mwangi wa Iria (Murang’a), Muthomi Njuki (Tharaka Nithi) and Mutahi Kahiga (Nyeri).
They warned Kang’ata and the likes to stop making early conclusions before the real exercise officially kicks off across the nation.
