Sunday, February 25, 2024 –Majority Leader in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung’wah had a rough time addressing locals in his home area.
In video a clip taken on Friday, the MP was forced to cut short his address after angry locals turned on him following his remarks on former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family.
He was speaking during groundbreaking ceremonies for two Limuru markets, when he started dragging former first family into his leadership challenges.
He told residents that Uhuru had collaborated with area Governor Kimani Wamatang’i to mislead area Members of County Assembly to undermine him.
He also roped in Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba for working in cahoots with the group to interfere with his development plans as well as the national government.
“I have told you that Kiambu will develop at the pace the people want, not the one Uhuru and Governor Kimani Wamatang’i want,” Ichung’wah remarked.
It was at this particular point that the attendants requested him to stop blaming Uhuru Kenyatta on every leadership issue in the country.
“What is this do you have against Uhuru?” some of them were recorded asking.
They argued that, Ichungw’ah, among other United Democratic Alliance UDA Party politicians have been unfairly targeting Uhuru on every issue.
In their response, the area residents seemed to wonder why the current regime was hellbent on transferring their inefficiencies on Uhuru.
Ichung’wah, of late, was claimed to be eyeing the Kiambu County gubernatorial seat but came out to issue a contradictory statement on the matter saying he has no plans to succeed the incumbent, Mr. Wamatang’i.
Instead, Ichungw’ah, through a fresh statement, noted that some leaders were orchestrating chaos against others so that to make them a ‘ridicule’ of the society.
“In an era where progress and development are paramount, the antiquated practice of orchestrating gatherings to ridicule leaders is not only regressive but also farcical. Our focus must remain steadfastly on initiatives that uplift and benefit every individual within our community,” he added.
The lawmaker noted further that the Kiambu County stands as a bastion of peace, and it is their collective commitment to foster unity of purpose, dedicated solely to the betterment of the voter.
