J-League in Japan made the heartbreaking confirmation saying twelve other colleagues had also been taken to various isolation centers for the same reasons.
This development forced Japan’s Levain Cup J–League to cancel further sporting activities including their Saturday finals until further notice.
Olunga’s side Reysol led by their Brazilian Coach Nelsinho Baptista who were due to face off with FC Tokyo next Saturday will not be doing so until normalcy returns. Homenews.co.ke has just learnt.
The much awaited finals were scheduled at Tokyo National Stadium where Olympic Games were also to take place with great observation of social distancing.
“We decided to cancel (the final) with a view to preventing further spread of infection,” a J-League statement claimed with expectations of a new date soon.
Olunga’s Covid news comes at the backdrop of a rise of same cases back in Kenya a situation that has since forced President Uhuru Kenyatta to reintroduce curfews.
