Monday, October 30, 2023 – Alleged University students in Kakamega Town were on Saturday rounded up by the police following a tip off on their adult video recording exercise.
Police, acting swiftly on a tip off, moved swiftly to flush out, at least, seven female students who were recording adult tape for commercial reasons.
In the raid, camera, lenses and lights were recovered together with other artificial sex toys which the girls were using in the shoot.
Police confirmed the incident saying they pounced on the seven young women after they were allegedly caught engaging in explicit content production at an apartment in Mwiyala Ward.
A source who lives in the area told the police and media outlets that the suspects including a Ugandan citizen are in campus and all along live large.
“What these girls have done is portray a very bad image to young kids. Parents assume that their children are in school studying, only to receive such disheartening news of their involvement in such activities for quick financial gains,” one of the residents reacted.
While confirming the incident, Kakamega County police commander Joseph Kigen noted that officers who arrived at the scene confiscated various tools and equipment such as cameras, electronic devices and computers.
The police boss added that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI had taken up the matter and an investigation has commenced.
Further, the police commander assured residents that the DCI would pursue further leads to arrest any other potential accomplices in the crime.
“The DCI is investigating this issue therefore we cannot give further information on the case before we are briefed on more by the Cyber Crime office because those devices have been taken for forensic testing to verify that they indeed partook in such activities,” Kigen said during an interview with a different publication.
The area residents expressed concerns and disappointment over the incident noting that it was posing negative impact on children and the general community’s culture.
The suspects were taken into custody pending interrogation.
