Kenya Wildlife Services KWS aircraft under a trainee pilot crash-landed in Kajiado claiming one life on the spot.
Kinyua Mugambi, area Police Boss, confirmed this incident which occurred early Thursday at Kenya Aviation Training School in Birika, Isinya.
A source from the ground recounted how the AutoGyro plane model MTOsport 2010 with a registration 5Y-KWV crashed at around 7AM during a routine training exercise.
That soon after crashing down, the craft burst into flames. This is according to Corporate Communication Manager Paul Jinaro.
“Today KWS is sad to confirm we, unfortunately, suffered an aircraft accident at 07.38a m that resulted in one fatality and the loss of the aircraft. The accident involved an AutoGyro aircraft model MTOsport2010 registered 5Y-KWV,” a Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) official further confirmed.
The real cause of the fatal breakdown is yet to be made public by the management since the air space was clear by the time the accident happened.
“A thorough investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the accident,” he added as he took the opportunity to convey their heartfelt condolences to the affected family.
