Lorry overturns in Kibra, kills one football fan

Monday, December 21, 2020 -Football fans almost lost their lives after a lorry they had filled to capacity overturned in Kibra on Sunday December 21.

The afternoon accident occurred when the fans who were celebrating how their team had won hanged on it loosely hence forcing it to overturn.

Those who witnessed the accident claimed that this happened due to speeding and that passengers were also hanging recklessly from both sides without observing balance of their vessel.

The bus that overturned in Kirinyaga on Monday December 21.

Kenyans.co.ke reported that Cogo Football Club had won in the competition that pitted it against Ping FC from the neighboring Dagoretti whom they beat 2-1.

“One man identified as Omar Ahmed whom the lorry trampled on died on the spot,” another resident who was at the scene reported.

In a different but similar accident that occurred at Sagana in Kirinyaga County, one of the survivors claimed that their lorry was shot at by a police when the driver refused to stop.

“The driver failed to stop after he was flagged down by police. He lost control while rushing to make a turn at the junction that leads to Murang’a County. Maybe they thought the driver was ferrying drugs,” the victim narrated to the news blog.

Fortunately no one died.
