Raila Amollo Odinga’s younger sister Beril Okumu has been appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government to the capacity of Chairperson Athi Water Works Development Agency.
Beril was appointed by Water Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki to the plum State position in a development that has continued to solidify unity of Uhuru/Odinga pact amid breakup rumours.
Among those who also benefited in the recent State appointments are Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and KANU’s Gideon Moi who is now moving close to power by day thanks to his family friendship with the Kenyattas.
It must be remembered that Okumu before her recent appointment, also served as the chairperson of the Kenya Railways Staff Retirement Benefit.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s son Kevin Muasya with Pauline Njoroge were brought on board as members of the Board of Tourism Regulatory Authority TRA for three years in an appointment that was announced by Tourism CS Najib Balala.
Further, Nick Salat of KANU is now in the Agriculture Development Corporation ADC. He was moved to the lucrative position from Postal Corporation of Kenya PCK.
In another State appointment, Dr. Fred Matiang’i brother John Matiang’i alongside others will be serving in the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees PSSFBT.
The Star reported that Deputy President William Ruto’s ally who is the former Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi was not considered during the latest appointments.
Also in the appointment list were former Nairobi Speaker Alex Ole Magelo in the Industry ministry while Betty Maina will be joining as a member at the Kenya Leather Development Council KLDC.
In a nutshell, both Raila Odinga and Dr. Fred Matiang’i reaped big in these State appointments as Dr. William Ruto continued to suffer humiliation.
Ruto has not been lucky since the inception of the historic Harambee House handshake between Raila Odinga and his perceived brother President Uhuru Kenyatta.
