Friday, April 28, 2023 –Zablon wa Yesu, real name Zablon Atanda, who deputises cult Pastor Paul Makenzie left his well-paying job in Nairobi to join the evil sect in Kilifi.
An interview with the family of Zablon in his Kakamega Village, revealed how he dumped a senior managerial role in a major retail outlet to start working with Mr. Mackenzie in Kilifi.
The two, reportedly, met in Nairobi’s Kawangware area and struck a relationship that finally saw Mackenzie lure the Luhya man to his Kilifi-based sect.
The controversial preacher Paul Mackenzie’s right-hand man, Zablon wa Yesu, was initially doing so well as manager before he joined the killer cult.
His village mates led by Emmanuel Swaka have confirmed that he was born in Shirombe Village in Butere Kakamega County.
“He comes from our neigbouring village. I know his dad and his late mum. We were at Ebutayi Primary School together
“He did his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education KCPE in 1996, and passed his exams well,” Swaka recounted.
When he joined a local major supermarket, Zablon wa Yesu worked his way through the ranks and to the position of manager of the Security Department.
“Back then, Zablon used to live in Donholm after relocating from Kawangware where he had lived for many years and possibly met Mackenzie,” Swaka stated.
He was a strict and staunch Christian who never missed going to church every Sunday; and was also involved in all youth church activities.
Boniface Areba, who worked with Zablon – now the Deputy cult leader – at a local supermarket, stated that he did not know how his colleague left his well-paying job for Mackenzie.
“I’m shocked. We worked together at the supermarket from, 2015 to 2017. Didn’t know this is how it ended,” Boniface Areba wondered.
Several media outlets established that Zablon wa Yesu met Paul Mackenzie while living in Kawangware estate. By that time, the former was working in a supermarket.
Their friendship blossomed very fast to a point they started running Good Life International Church in Kilifi together; which is now under investigation following deaths of its followers.
Cleopha Atanda Lihoywa,79, whose son abandoned his wife and four children, deemed it blasphemous that his son chose to change his name to “Zablon wa Yesu” from his official name Zablon Atanda disclosing that he had not heard from his son since 2016.
More than 100 bodies of both children and adults have since been exhumed from the their Shakahola compound.
