Friday, May 17, 2024 –Cabinet Secretary Public Service Moses Kuria has confirmed attending the Limutu 3 gathering organized for Mt. Kenya leaders among them Martha Karua.
Speaking on Citizen Tv with Sam Gituku, Kuria has clarified that he will be among the top leaders from the Mountain to congregate in Limuru so that to address their political and leadership future.
Asked what he thinks about his boss Deputy President Rigathi Gachgua, a visibly angry Kuria said, he doesn’t take instructions from the DP and that when it comes to matters community, Gachagua is not well placed to to give directions to anybody.
“If Martha Karua called me or Jeremiah Kioni, I will go to their houses. I don’t agree with DP Gachgua, We were all elected by the people to serve them. Solutions of this country have no forwarding address. Who is Gachagua?” he posed.
Asked about the one-man-one-vote-one shilling funding policy, Kuria who is one of the key proponents of the idea, said Gachagua was wrong to lament this in the public when Mt. Kenya Region has enough leaders in the government to help solve such matters.
“We are many elected and appointed in this government. Why would someone go to Wanjiku crying for help. This is hypocritical?” he questioned in reference to Gachagua’s recent utterances about the Mt. Kenya Region being shortchanged.
The second in command, last Sunday, triggered a political storm with his one man, one shilling revenue sharing call.
DP Gachagua said, revenue should be shared among counties based on population and not land mass as it is today.
“The push for this formula is not just about our region’s high population but it is because it is the right thing to do. We are committed to ensuring fairness in the sharing of national revenue,” he said.
