Mukhisa gambles, resigns UN job to venture into politics

Sunday, January 10, 2021 -Mukhisa Kituyi has decided to quit his well-paying job in Geneva to vie for 2022 presidency.

Making this announcement on Friday January 9th, Mr. Kituyi who was addressing his new support base in Matungu Mumias in Kakamega County said he had finally decided to fully venture into Kenyan politics after he quits his job in two weeks period.

He currently works at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development UNCTAD as their Secretary General.

“I cannot participate in politics directly because of my international obligations.

“I will, however, announce my departure from Geneva in the next two weeks to start the presidential campaign,” he revealed.

He has worked at the organization which he joined in 2013 for six years and had to finish his seventh year in August this year.

His coming into politics is informed by the situation the country is currently facing and believes he is the best man, due to his vast experience, who can sort this out.

He persuaded that Western Region will be his first priority because, for long, it has missed focused leadership.

“The secret of accessing resources from the government is not to wait for appointments.

“You need to be among the conveners of the round table where resources are shared,” he advised.

His immense experience spans wide from an elected leader, academia and Minister of Trade and Industry from 2003 to 2007.

He also indicated that with these experiences at his palm, he will be able to turn around country’s economy in a very short period.
