Matungu residents could be treated to the usual political succession following remarks made by wife Chritabel Murunga, widow to the late MP Justus Murunga, who was finally laid to rest today.
Christabel while eulogizing her beloved husband hinted at not only fitting in her husband’s shoes but also filling the void left behind.
She appeared to indicate that she was ready to take full political responsibilities that had been left behind by her husband.
She was saying this in the presence of ODM Party boss Raila Odinga, Deputy President William Ruto, ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula among other leaders.
“My dear husband was such a darling to me. He was responsible, so caring and so loving. He was a good father to my girls. People of Matungu, I love you all. Now, I will double the love for you by adding his to mine. Do not worry at all. I will try fit in his shoes,” she addressed.
On his part, the DP Ruto described the late as a friend who was responsible and who always defended the public.
Ruto further noted that the late politician was a very available leader on the ground and who listened to everyone regardless of their status.
“Mheshimiwa Murunga’s enduring legacy was the building of a better, more inclusive and transformed Matungu. We will remember him as a principled and responsive leader who boldly defended the public,” Ruto said.
After the body was viewed at his other home in Lugari, the MP was finally buried at his Matungu Mumias home in an event that was attended by so many people who included friends, locals and relatives.
