Museveni blocks US from observing elections

Wednesday, January 13, 2021 -Yoweri Museveni’s government has managed to frustrate the US so that it doesn’t meddle in their elections exercise scheduled January 14.

President Donald Trump.

US Embassy in Uganda had to therefore on Wednesday January 13 cancel its diplomatic role in observing the exercise.

The embassy released an official statement which cited constant frustration from the Yoweri Museveni administration.

With only 15 accreditations approved, it is not possible for the United States to meaningfully observe the conduct of Uganda’s elections at polling sites across the country,” the statement reads.

NUP candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

The Embassy further mentioned how they had requested for accreditation from the electoral body but upto now they had not received any response.

It now makes it hard for them to take over the role this late because they might not be able to give reliable observations results.

Speaking on Wednesday, Ms Brown stated that they had complied with all the Electoral Commission accreditation requirements early in time and that they cannot be blamed for this 2021 boycott.
