Thursday, February 18, 2021 -A total of 11 County Assemblies have passed the Building Bridges Initiative BBI Bill.
Nairobi County Assembly passed the Bill on Thursday February 18 evening in a unanimous version same to Vihiga County.
The Star reported that a total of 114 Nairobi County MCAs voted to endorse the Constitution Amendment 2020 Bill commonly referred to as the BBI.
City County Assembly Speaker Benson Mutura confirmed that the Assembly observed both law and order while carrying out the approval.
The MCA first started their day by paying tribute to the fallen Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji whom they gave a moment of silence.
“The late Senator was a man who served for the last 55 years with dedication, selflessness and midwifed the BBI bill that will make Kenya enjoy peace for eternity,” Mutura said.
They described the BBI Bill as a progressive and good document for residents of the city especially when it reaches its implementation stage.
Elsewhere in Vihiga County, MCAs similarly behaved by throwing their weight behind the Bill which they defended as one of the changes that Kenya has been yearning for.
Other counties that have passed the Bill are Laikipia, Kisii, Siaya, Kisumu, Kajiado, West Pokot, Busia, Trans Nzoia and Homa Bay among others. The list though seems to be growing every day.
