Tuesday, April 6, 2021 -New Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu has hinted at addressing the menace of Covid-19 in her country.
Today while swearing in the Chief Commissioner for Tanzania Revenue Authority TRA today, Suluhu addressed so many issues among them the Coronavirus pandemic which has been ignored a lot in her country.
She appeared to be ready to overturn some of the rules imposed by her late predecessor John Pombe Magufuli who vehemently rejected any counsel on Covid-19. Magufuli remained adamant that there was no virus in his country despite several deaths cases having been reported across the country.
He even refused to cooperate with the World Health Organization WHO which until his death had not received any update from hsi country Tania.
But today his female successor Suluhu announced that there will be formed a task force to look into the Covid matter with an intention of working with other countries.
“Tutaunda Kamati ya Wataalamu kuhusu Covid 19 watuambie kitaalamu hayo yanayopendekezwa na Ulimwengu kuja kwetu yapoje, hatuwezi kujitenga tu kama Kisiwa na hatuwezi kupokea yanayoletwa bila kuweka cha kwetu, bila kufanya utafiti wa kwetu.” President Samia said.
She also ordered that all the media stations which had been shut down be reopened with proper rules on how reporting will be done going foward.
“Wizara ya Habari, nasikia kuna Vyombo vya Habari mmevifungia, sijui Viji- TV vya mikononi vile, vifungulieni lakini wafuate sheria na miongozo ya Serikali, tusiwape mdomo wa kusema tunabinya Uhuru wa Vyombo vya Habari, tusifungie tu kibabe” President Samia remarked.
Samia took over reins of power from the late Mr. Magufuli who recently succumbed to heart related complications.
