Saturday, May 1, 2021 -The slain journalist Betty Barasa was allegedly murdered by her sponsor’s wife. Reports have emerged.
Investigating agencies are inching closer to unearthing the past lifestyle of the slain KBC staffer who was shot dead by ‘hired assailants’ in front of her family.
The Standard of Saturday May 1 reported how the hired goons could have been sent by wife to her ‘Mpango’ who wanted her dead by all means possible. The same woman is also living in Ngong area.
Barasa lost her life through a hired bullet on a Wednesday with police reports having it that the perpetrators accosted her upto her gate when she was returning home from work. They then dragged her into her house where they carried out the heinous act.
It was reported by the family that the said attackers ransacked the home as they also demanded money before one of them led the diseased upstairs where she was killed in cold blood.
Betty, was confirmed to be married and with a family. By the time of her death, she was putting up a multi-million home in Ngong which is now reported to be under the funding of her wealthy ‘sponsor’.
Lawyer Wahome Thuku who is keenly following up the story observed how that theory could be reliable.
“I would have started with that house. Start with her salary, her other income, her husband’s, his other sources, go to their accounts,to them odeof payment for the construction…any loan..Mpesa details, any chats relating to the house and with who..etc etc. And yes, I know I would have cracked it if it was linked to the murder,” he stated.
Detectives have started to wind up their files in which they claim the killers were acting on express instructions.
The lady was, according to the report, killed by hitmen hired by the wife of her sponsor who was also financing the construction of Betty’s house.
“May be, may be not. Remember they had demanded for money from her. Would they have killed her if she gave them a lot of money? May be may be not,” Thuku went on.
The Lawyer also advised that the fourth person to probe must be Barasa’s husband who can shed more light on their source of wealth.
