Friday, April 2, 2021 -Raila Odinga has not made any application for a presidential ticket as earlier informed.
It had been reported by ODM itself that Mr. Odinga had tendered his presidential nomination papers for consideration; but a day later, Secretary General Edwin Sifuna through a letter fully signed has withdrawn the claims stating that it was not true and that was a prank on Fools Day.
ODM on Friday published a statement which they noted that Odinga was yet to do that and that when he finally does it will be communicated out for everyone. As of now, Odinga was fully focused on building the nation as opposed to 2022 politics.
“We see many, especially our political opponents swallowed it hook line and sinker. They came out guns blazing, frothing at the mouth, at an April fools misdirection. You need to lighten up, friends. It’s never that serious.
“So here is the position. Raila Odinga Did NOT apply for the Party’s ticket. His long held position is that he will not discuss 2022 until after the BBI process is done,” partly read the statement.
Raila, according to the party, is not yet on the list of those who applied for the 2022 party contest among them Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and his Kakamega counterpart Wickliffe Oparanya.
“At the close of the Application period, the Party received only two Applications from Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya and Hon Ali Hassan Joho,” also read the statement.
The applications will be sieved through by the National Elections Board NEB of the Party for a decision.
