Thursday, June 6, 2024 –A section of United Democratic Alliance UDA Party members and officials now want Secretary General Cleophas Malala out as soon as possible.
Mr. Malala risks being ousted by fellow members in the ruling party who have cited leadership and integrity concerns.
A petition by one, Joseph Kalende Wabwire, and which was lodged on June 5, blames Malala of sabotaging grassroots elections for his own interests.
The UDA Secretary General, therefore, risks being expelled from his party position following a petition filed to eject him prematurely.
The petitioner has drafted a four-page claim describing self as among the founding members UDA Party who cannot just sit quiet when Malala is openly defying their party constitution to spearhead divisions within the party.
“Any attempts to disorient the UDA Party from the greater objectives is sufficient reason to sanction, punish, and expel those who do that. In the future, we shall recommend formal leadership and orientation capacity building for new officials who join the Party to safeguard the integrity and eminence of the party”.
He came up with seven points to show why he thinks Mr. Malala does not deserve any leadership role in the ruling party.
Among the reasons he cited include, misuse of party funds, violation of the party constitution and SG’s wanting manners and educational achievements.
“As UDA founders, we shall strive to remind our members where we came from, why we formed this party, and where we intend to go with it. This is why it is sometimes, such as it is now, important to remind us of the history of the UDA Party,” read the petition, partly.
Recently, Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi told off Malala after he(Malala) named him among those disrespecting the deputy president.
Responding to Malala, MP Sudi described him as a man who was promoted form a mere MCA to the top of the party and who has been messed up by imaginary power to think he can equal the likes of former Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju.
