Monday, March 8. 2021 -Private Hospitals should also get their fair share in the ongoing Covid-19 Vaccine distribution exercise by the State.

Led by Mr. Abraham Namanda from Lunza, Butere residents in Kakamega County have urged the national government to engage private facilities in the fight against Covid pandemic.

“We have better modern facilities around here like the Mwale Medical and Technology City where Hamptons hospital is located,” Namanda said.

Their plea is coming against the backdrop of Corona pandemic that has seen many governments across the world import the vaccine to fight further spread of the killer virus.

Hamptons Hospital in Kakamega is a posh privately owned facility with a 5000 bed capacity and has more than 1000 employees.

The facility can be the best fit to help in administering the Covid-19 vaccine jabs to locals from Kakamega County.

Ministry of Health recently confirmed that Kenya alone imported a total of 24 million doses of the vaccine.

According to the Acting Director of Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth, each dose of the vaccine will cost about $3.
