Wednesday, November 15, 2023 –The Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party has revisited the August 9, 2022 general election claiming that the presidential results are yet to be gazetted.
Speaking in Westlands Nairobi on Wednesday November 15, Azimio la Umoja boss Raila Odinga claimed that, todate, the Presidential results for the elections conducted in 2022 have not been posted on Form 34-C as it is required by law.
He added that this makes some of the key reasons he believes that the current government is in office illegally.
“Presidential results have not been posted on Form 34-C to date. Why? Nobody has ever explained why the results have never been gazetted to date. We can’t live a lie every day” he announced in Westlands.
But in a counter statement by the former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati, the August 9 polls were the most free and fair and that the opposition should respect the verdict also delivered by the Supreme Court as well as international obsevers.
“Greetings from Lisbon, Portugal where I delivered a keynote presentation at the 19th International Electoral Affairs Symposium & Awards Ceremony titled “Kenya 2022 Election Success Story: Leveraging Technology for Increased Election Integrity,” Mr. Chebukati stated.
This is happening even as Raila’s ODM Party flexes muscles for another round of presidential stab as it continues to mobilise support through party registration ahead of grassroots elections.
“We met ODM delegates and grassroots leaders from Suba North, where we officially launched the mass party membership registration for Homa Bay County,” their earlier statement read.
It is not clear, however, as to whether, Mr. Odinga, this time around, will support someone else or he will still run against President William Ruto.
Pundits have read his early intend of throwing weight behind Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka who has been his long-time loyalist in the past two elections.
Raila, recently created public speculations after showing interest in Mr. Musyoka.
