Friday, March 19, 2021 -Opposition leader Raila Amollo Odinga has termed it historic the swearing into power of Tanzania Vice president Samia Suluhu who has become the sixth President after the demise of John Magufuli.
Suluhu Hassan is now the first female president in the entire East Africa. She has also been the first female Vice President in Africa.
Tanzanian Constitution allowed her to take over from where her boss John Pombe Magufuli had left what finally culminated into her official swearing in just days after announcing the death of Magufuli.
And reacting to the news, Kenyan former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was the first to thank her saying history had been made. Odinga send his congratulatory message through his Twitter account in which she also described the lady as a humble,outgoing and who deserved the seat.
“History has been made this morning in the East Africa region. Congratulations @SuluhuSamia on taking office as the first female President of Tanzania. Mama @IdaOdinga and I pray for your success in the task ahead of leading your people and enhancing ties between our nations,” Raila tweeted.

Suluhu is a member of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi cha Tanzania CCM, the founding party which has ruled the country since Tanzanai was born.
She was equally congratulated by Mama Ida Odinga who described her rise to power as encouraging for many women across Africa.
