Thursday, April 22, 2021 -Ford Kenya Party rebels are reportedly seeking for reconciliation with their party leader Moses Wetang’ula.
Last year 2020, Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi, Tongaren’s Eseli Simiyu and Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati unsuccessfully tried to overthrow Wetang’ula from their party before Wetang’ula rushed to court for reprieve which he was granted.
Simiyu, the Secretary General at Ford Kenya, had accused Mr. Wetang’ula, among other things, lacking proper leadership skills and selfishness.

“It gets to a point when party members realise you are leading them to nowhere and they decide that they want some new direction,” Eseli said at the time as they handed Wamunyinyi the baton.
Shortly, fire spiting Wetang’ula rebutted with equal force saying he had steered the party ahead and took it through rough terrains and therefore anyone purporting to take over from him using unorthodox means will not be given a chance.
Wetang’ula, de-facto kingpin for Bungoma County, took over Ford Kenya from former local Government Minister and former Webuye MP Musikari Kombo.
And today Thursday April 22, Homenews.co.ke learnt that the rebels are allegedly using emissaries to reconcile with Wetang’ula for their 2022 survival.
“We have had to go back to the drawing table after the party convincingly won the recent Kabuchai by-election. We want to bury the hatchet and work together,” a source disclosed.

Recently, during the Kabuchai by-election, Wangamati, Eseli and Wamunyinyi steered clear of campaigns leaving Wetang’ula and afew loyalist to rally supporters behind Majimbo Kalasinga who later won the race.
When reached for a comment, Senator Wetangula’s aide Wafula Wakoli revealed that hitherto there has been no signs of reconciliation talks between the parties; but added that forgiveness is strength and not a weakness as many tend to believe.
