Friday, April 16, 2021 -Deputy President William Ruto has blamed some individuals in political arena who have decided to mislead Kipyegon Kenei’s father John Chesang on his son’s death.
On his sit down interview on Citizen TV on Thursday April 15, Ruto said the death of Kenei cannot squarely be blamed on him nor anyone in his office because cases of police committing suicide anyhow have been on the rise in the country.
He added that the authorities ought to have done its part of investigations to establish why the officer died so as to put the matter to a rest.
In the same interview, Ruto however clarified that if the death of Kenei had anything to do with the fake sh 40M fire arm scandal, then it is the investigators who can unravel that truth and not politicians.
“These matters happen. I saw the other day an officer killing his wife and turning the gun on himself. A lot of issues and incidences occur and police do not have to create unnecessary drama and politics but investigate the case,” Ruto urged.
He added that there is nothing he can tell Kenei’s family as far as the death of their kin is concerned because he had already shared what he had with them.
“Am not suggesting that Kenei committed suicide. I am putting all the cards on the table. What do I tell the family? I have been forthright with them. I even recently learnt that Kenei is related to a Cabinet Secretary who is one of my closest friends,” Ruto defended.
Just recently, Kenei’s father was on record blaming the DP for playing ‘cat and mouse’ on the death of his son who worked at his office for six years.
Mr. Kenei was found murdered in his house at Villa Franca Estate in Nairobi in January 2020.
