Wednesday, March 24, 2021 –United Democratic Alliance UDA Party leadership held a daylong crisis meeting which saw Deputy President William Ruto preside over.
The meeting came against the backdrop of a planned massive walkout by members who are not satisfied by how affairs are being run in the party.
It is reported that the Senators and MPs allied to Ruto are contemplating shifting their support to both Uhuru and Odinga camps.
Wrangles in UDA resulted from the recent dismal performances in all their by-elections which they lost to rival camps; a precipitate of un-coordinated exercise due to both mistrust as well as betrayal.
UDA lost by-elections in Kabuchai, Bungoma, and Makueni Counties even after Ruto reportedly emptied his bank accounts for the exercise.
On Tuesday March 23 for instance, Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi visited his Kimilili colleague Didmus Barasa who had on Sunday made it clear that he is nolonger interested in Ruto’s politics. He(Barasa) would on Monday meet with ANC-allied-legislators with whom they discussed a possible working formula.
“I paid a courtesy visit to my friend Hon Didmas Barasa, Kimilili MP in his office earlier today…I, however, requested him to reduce the four months break to a lesser time. Let’s wait and see what he will decide,” Sudi stated.
It has also been confirmed that a larger section of Mt. Kenya MPs and Senators don’t want to enter a teething party with both legs since elections are just at the corner.
Ruto’s UDA Party is currently facing challenges of trust as Raila, Ngilu, Musalia, Kalonzo and Wetang’ula are busy crafting a salable working formula that will give any rival a run for his money in the forthcoming general elections.
