Friday January 8, 2021 -Deputy President William Ruto-linked-UDA Party has unveiled its offices as well as candidates who will contest in different by-elections around the country.
While unveiling the party headquarters, Alex Kanyana and Evans Kakai were given nomination certificates for both Matungu and Kabuchai parliamentary race respectively.
United Democratic Alliance Party’s chairman Johnson Muthama, who is the former Senator for Machakos, announced that Bishop Margret Wanjiru of Jesus is Alive Ministries will be the flag bearer in the Nairobi Gubernatorial race.
Nairobi seat was left vacant following the unceremonious removal of Ex-Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko who is now in court contesting his ouster.
According to the Registrar of political Parties in Kenya, UDA which is linked to the Deputy President was formerly the Party for Reforms and Development PRD.
It is now official that if the by-election is carried out as planned, the former Starehe MP will have to face off with Jubilee Party’s candidate Dennis Waweru who stands high chances of clinching the party’s nomination slated January 9th.
In an official Gazette Notice, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC published a total of 12 names of Independent candidates who have shown interest to participate in the city race. Former Kiambu boss Ferdinand Waititu’s name was also featured.
But following huge public uproar, IEBC would later clarify that the publication of Waititu’s name was not a clearance.
