Wednesday, April 17, 2024 –President William Ruto has threatened to push away any State official with questionable academic papers.
He explained that service delivery in governmnet can only succeed through competence personality who occupy governmnet departments.
He was supported by his deputy Rigathi Gachagua who said the challenge is immense because almost the entire government has such characters
“Other governors, other heads of department have their papers hwith issues. So, you will have to make a decision and I don’t know who will help you, perhaps, Musalia could help,” Gachagua added.
DP Gachagua speaking during the Third Wage Bill Conference held at Nairobi’ Bomas of Kenya Grounds, raised serious concerns on the amount of senior State official working without proper academic papers.
His boss William Ruto insisted on accountability and obligation to secure the best skills in the market to deliver to Kenyans.
He also delved into tax collection and efficiency saying, digitization of all government departments was working well for his government.
This, Ruto noted, will reduce corruption and help employ tech-savvy youths most who are still jobless despite having graduated.
“Our enhanced revenue collection via digitization, the fight against corruption and the deliberate creation of alternative pathways to employment will ensure that our country attains a sustainable public service wage bill. Officially closed the Wage Bill Conference and presented Wage Bill Accountability awards,” President noted.
And reacting to the qualification remarks on all State officers, Lawyer Miguna Miguna challenged President William Ruto to start from within.
“I support President Ruto’s call on those occupying public office while having FAKE certificates, diplomas and degrees to RESIGN. However, the first person to resign should be Johnson Sakaja.
“Let’s practice what we preach and live by example!” Miguna charged.
This debate coming at the time Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission EACC has started fishing out and prosecuting cases of academic paper forgery in government.
Recently, for instance, EACC asked all those who secured jobs in government using fake papers to surrender voluntarily.
It also directed all public institutions to halt salary payment to anyone with fake or questionable academic documents.
