Thursday, April 1, 2021 -County governments have been challenged to extend necessary tax reliefs to small scale traders in their regions.
Major(Rtd) Suleiman Sumba, former Kakamega County gubernatorial candidate, has led a section of leaders from the area in agitating for the plight of the poor Kenyans whom they claim governments are not prioritizing their lives especially this pandemic period.
Vegetable vendors, bodaboda operators, PSV vehicle, land rates, single business permits SBP are among the sectors affected a lot by the stringent measures announced by the State to fight the virus and who must be supported by government to be able to survive through.
Mr. Sumba also pointed out what the health sector should be doing to be able to counter the increasing spread of Coronavirus around the country.
“Hospitals to be equipped with oxygen gauges, flow meters, bottle humidifiers and cylinder trolleys. Also increase oxygen cylinder supply by cutting down their taxing,” Sumba told Homenews.co.ke desk.
The politician further recommended piping of oxygen to bed outlets so as to be able to refill those that run out of air during emergencies.
He also urged governments to regulate pricing of oxygen and waive duty on related equipment.
