Saturday, April 24, 2021 -Legendary gospel act Reuben Kagame has officially ventured into politics with an aim of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
The Nairobi-based singer has announced joining the long list of presidential hopefuls among them Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, Dr. Mukhisa Kitiyi, DP William Ruto and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
According to his Friday April 23 announcement, he is now mobilizing a team which he wants to use to sell his agenda on social media. He revealed how he will not be joining any political party because he has been advised to go for the top seat as an independent candidate.
“Kenya is in a bad place and if we do not courageously challenge the rot we are in at the moment, we will have ourselves to blame and future generations will not forgive us for letting them down,” the Enda Nasi hitmaker stated.
He added that due to the circumstances, he had to make this bold decision based on the overall outcome of his advisers.
“Tough times require tough decisions and mine is such. I will be announcing my bid soon,” added Kagame.
Kagame, also a pastor by profession, said he will rally Kenyans behind his new motto dubbed ‘Reset Kenya and Make Kenya Great Again’.
The 50 year old pastor living with disability (blind) was born in Bunyore, Vihiga County and has managed to acquire a Bachelors Degree in Education from Kenyatta University and Masters in Journalism and Media Studies from Moi University.
