Teachers Service Commission TSC has ordered teachers to report back to their respective schools by Monday September 28th next week.
Through CEO Nancy Macharia after a meeting held at Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development over the matter, teachers were asked to start reporting at school in their preparation for the official opening day.
“Teachers are free to report back to school anytime from now until Monday in readiness for when schools reopen,” she said adding that whatever that was lost during this period will no worry be recovered.
And weighing on the real opening date, Education Cabinet Secretary CS Prof George Magoha noted that a final stakeholders’ meeting to be held before September 28th will make this known to the whole country.
“We are waiting for the larger stakeholders’ meeting which will be before September 28 to endorse the recommendations reached today.” Magoha said.
All students in universities and those taking other courses that require physical engagement were given ago ahead to report back but with strict adherence to Covid-19 guidelines as stipulated in Covid protocol of 2020.
All schools were closed down after the outbreak of Coronavirus that also saw many economic sectors shut down to observe flattening of the curve which has, fortunately, since been realized.
According to the Star Paper, present during the meeting were officials from the Ministry of Education, Kenya National Union of Teachers KNUT, KUPPET, religious leaders, medical unions, parents and school heads associations among afew others.
