Waitresses now doing prostitution, Uhuru told to open pubs

Waitresses who were working in pubs and restaurants many have gone into full time prostitution. Latest report has indicated.

Following the saddening report, Pub owners in the country have come together to push the State to reconsider their stiff guidelines and allow those places of entertainment that have complied with Covid-19 protocol to resume office.

Pubs, Entertainment and Restaurant Association of Kenya PERAK has therefore urged the State to lift the operation ban and allow some of them to resume job so that many families which have been affected now for the fifth months to finally have sigh of relief.

“Majority of the bars, eateries have put measures to tame the spread of the virus,” the officials said in their meeting with members of the fourth estate.

Speaking in Nairobi on Tuesday September 9 afternoon, Nairobi Branch Chairperson Frank Mbogo alongside his National Director Mike Muthami disclosed that atleast 4000 workers in the industry had been directly affected this pandemic period and it was now time to address their plight since they have no any other qualification to secure another job apart from what they were doing before.

From their report, the sector had recorded a 70 percent drop in profits despite government saying there is an economic stimulus support which the industry was supposed to be benefiting from.

The body has since faulted the 30 day ban that Mr. Kenyatta extended saying it was uncalled for as the move had not considered those who had managed to comply with stipulated health guidelines.

President Kenyatta in his Wednesday speech, slapped bars with an extended 30 days period ban as part of State’s efforts in controlling further Covid-19 numbers whose curve is already said to be  flattening.
