Friday, May 21, 2021 -Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party has hinted at ditching the Handshake citing lack of seriousness from the Jubilee side.
In a scathing attack to the executive, ODM Party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna today challenged the head of State to crack the whip in the Ministry of Interior which has reportedly been misusing powers to sabotage the Handshake. He threatened that time was nigh for the ODM wing to call it quits because the role of protecting the truce between Uhuru and Raila had squarely been left to ODM members alone.
He singled out Dr. Fred Matiang’i as a stumbling block in the Handshake whom he accused of interfering with the calmness the Handshake had brought around.
Mr. Sifuna further claimed that even though the two Handshake partners could be serious, Uhuru’s side was weakening the friendship by day.
“To secure his legacy, President Uhuru must sack “OVERZEALOUS, BELLICOSE government functionaries with IMAGINARY, SHORT-LEGGED political ambition. @TheODMparty cannot be the one to always guard the handshake against enemies even those within the President’s circle. Sack Matiangi,” Edwin Sifuna remarked.
Moreover, ODM Party Communication Director Philip Etale weighed in to the matter saying it was time to tell truth to the president. He warned that the role to control erroneous State officials squarely belonged to Mr Kenyatta and who mustl be blamed if the Handshake fails.
“When the KING is naked, he MUST be told incongruent terms. Some people are taking advantage of the President’s good HEART. They will fail him. He SHOULD wake up now and see the light,” he stated.
In the just ended chaotic Bonchari by-election, ODM Party leader Raila Odinga warned that the Handshake risked failing if some individuals in government will not be stopped from misusing the existing democratic space.
