Monday, March 8, 2021 -We didn’t expect President Uhuru Kenyatta to help Raila Odinga to ascend to power through the Handshake. ODM has spoken.
Party’s Secretary General Edwin Sifuna made these revelations on Citizen’s Days Break with Waihiga Mwaura where he claimed that their Party has never thought about being supported in any by-election by Jubilee and neither did they expect Uhuru to say ‘Raila Tosha’ in 2022.
“ODM had no expectations at all that government would support us in these by-elections or that Uhuru will say ‘Raila Tosha’ in 2022,” Sifuna said,
The vocal lawyer added that this is not the first time ODM was making this clear because they have said it before.
“We have made that clear more than enough times. The only complaint we are raising is that, in the quest for 2022, the state should get out the politicians’ ways,” he added.
Sifuna also said their only concern was the way the Uhuru administration had started misusing State machinery to meddle in elections. He therefore advised the government to stay away from elections.
He pointed out the recent Matungu polls where the State allegedly used its powers to ‘prop up’ the Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC Party.
“ANC was making it clear that Matungu was about 2022 yet all we wanted was to have someone serve the people of Matungu,” he noted.
And on matters BBI, they now want Interior Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho to leave office because he has started interfering with BBI affairs.
That the PS had even stopped funding the BBI Secretariat for his own political reasons what is not sitting well with them.
