Saturday, June 12, 2021 -Worrying factions in Mt Kenya are holding talks in a special meeting held to chart a way forward for their region. Details have emerged.
President Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp, William Ruto and Justine Muturi’s group met on Saturday June 12 to discuss how they can start spreading the same 2022 gospel rather than fighting each other.
The fight between the groups started when Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto politically severed ways with Ruto now deciding to hunt for Mt. Kenya support without the help of his boss Uhuru Kenyatta.
Making this public, Trade Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya confirmed that the meeting was taking place at Lusoi Lodge in Nyeri.
“I was invited and we will discuss the way forward for Mt Kenya,” Munya told Nation.
Among those in the meeting are 10 governors from Central Region who included Anne waiguru, Lee Kinyanjui, James Nyoro and Mwangi wa Iria.
From the list above, Mwangi wa Iria has been vocal denouncing the recent coronation of National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi as the area spokesperson. This was after Muturi had been fronted by Uhuru’s cousin Kung’u Muigai.
“Muturi will be the supreme leader and will speak to the entire region on behalf of the president,” Muigai, an elder announced during the coronation that saw a section express their displeasure.
Now after the Saturday meeting it will be interesting to see how the leaders will agree on one candidate to fly flag for the 2022 top seat.
Pundits think it will be a tall order for the factions to amicably agree on a single person due to vested interest and distrust.
